Castiglion Fiorentino (10 minuti dalla struttura)
Il paese, di origine etrusca, deve il suo nome alla dominazione fiorentina in epoca medievale. Conserva quasi intatta la cinta muraria medievale dominata dal cassero.
Territorio storicamente agricolo, ricco di storia e di tradizioni.
Nella Pinacoteca Comunale sono conservate diverse opere, tra cui alcuni dipinti di Vasari. Da non perdere il loggiato cinquecentesco , vero e proprio balcone architettonico da cui affacciarsi per godere il panorama della Val di Chio.

Montecchio Castle (10 minutes)
The castle, on the hilltop, dominates Val di Chiana.
Castle walls, 263 meters, are mostly well preserved. His 30 meters tower and his unique outline make it very recognisable from all the sorrounding area.
The castle still guest a private house, but you can have guided tour thanks to a local archeological association.

Cortona (20 minutes)
Cortona old town is located upon a hill between Val di Chiana and Valtiberina. Cortona was a really important Etruscan city. About that period, we can still see walls 2 kilometers long dating back to the fifth a.C. century.
Cortona is famous for its natural beauty but also for museums, arts, exhibitions and musical, hystorical and cultural events.

Arezzo (35 minutes)
Arezzo (Aritim in Etruscan) is believed to have been one of the twelve most important Etruscan cities. Conquered by the Romans in 311 BC, Arretium became a military station on the via Cassia, the road by which Rome expanded into the basin of the Po.
Well known for its gold manufacturing, Arezzo is reach in culture, history and art and there are a lot of places and things to visit.
You cannot avoid to visit Piazza Grande with Vasari Logge and Santa Maria Assunta church; the San Pietro e Donato Cathedral and the behind "Prato" and Medicean fortress; San Francesco church, wich hosts the famous "History of the True Cross" by Pier della Francesca; the Cimabue Crucifix, inside San Domenico church.
In the city suburbs you can also visit Santa Maria delle Grazie Church.

Trasimeno lake
Trasimeno lake, between Tuscany and Umbria, is the most extended lake in the central part of Italy. The hills around it are a frame for its beauty.
There are three islands: Polvese, Maggiore e Minore.
Along the banks there are a lot of villages. The nearest to our house are Tuoro sul Trasimeno (37 minutes), Passignano sul Trasimeno (38 minutes) and Castiglion del Lago (38 minutes).

Pienza (60 minutes)
Pienza is the most famous village in Val d'Orcia, known as Pope Pio II' town because he was born here and he completely transformed it in what we can see today. The city was declared a UNESCO Human Heritage site.
